A Cadole is a French regional word for a small building found in a vineyard around the northern Rhone.
Over the centuries, these were built by vignerons using local materials at hand in the vineyards…usually stones brought to the surface by their agricultural endeavours.
Although rough and agricultural there is an elegance of simplicity in these purposeful buildings. Simple, one-room shelters, they afforded the winemakers heat in winter, freshness in summer and shelter against bad weather.
